Understanding Trauma-Bonds In Relationships

A trauma bond is a psychological attachment that develops in a relationship where there is an imbalance of power, control, and emotional manipulation. This bond is often formed through cycles of intense emotional highs and lows. The victim may experience periods of affection, love, or attention from their abuser, followed by periods of neglect, manipulation, or abuse. These extreme emotional shifts can create confusion and dependency, making it harder for the person to leave.

There are various versions of trauma-bonds in couples. The importance is understanding your trauma-bond, the impact of it and your emotional attachment to it. Understanding the various reasons to why trauma-bonds form and the underlying reasons to why you allow it and why it is present in your life.
